Reselling Vintage Syracuse China...

Saw these little lovelies at a small thrift shop I frequent.  Passed them by several times thinking, if they were there the next time, I would buy them. Finally, I bought them.  There are many vintage Syracuse china items that don't go for much on Ebay.  I almost popped these in my yard sale last Friday, but decided to check completed listings on Ebay first.  Glad I did...

They are the Lake Placid pattern and in high demand.  One cup brought $18.50 at bid end.  I listed all four starting at $29.99 with BIN at $59.99.  Heard the ca-ching of my Ebay app cash register later in the day, which is why I use the Buy It Now option.  There is something about hearing that signal out of the blue. :)

How about you?  Do you think it is wise to use the Buy It Now Option?

Vintage Quilt Find...

Found this vintage quilt at a yard sale last weekend.  Thought it might be a spider web pattern, but think most of the blocks were not placed properly for that effect.  It does have some wonderful, vintage fabrics.  Below are close up pics of some of them...

UPDATE:  One reader tells me this quilt pattern is called String.  I have sure enjoyed studying the different vintage fabrics used in its construction.

Unfortunately, it is not hand-quilted. :( But, still a nice quilt.  Complete pic is spread out on my king size bed. It goes over the edges several inches.  Would probably fit a queen size bed nicely.

The quilt was actually back in a guy's garage, not out with the other sale items, but I asked if it was for sale.  He paused, so I asked if it was sentimental to him... made by his grandmother or someone else special.  He said he did not know who made it and that it could be for sale.  He accepted my offer.  Does not hurt to ask, right?

The backing is a thick muslin, I believe and the binding is a thick cotton material... see pics.  Don't think it had ever been washed, so I threw it in for one.  A few of the fabrics were not colorfast and bled through a little, but a very minor amount.

I need another quilt like a hole in the head, so will probably resell or give it to one of my children.  Just can not pass up an old quilt in decent condition.  How about you?

Vintage Linens, Dishes and More...

Sterling Candlestick
Found a new thrift store on the way to my daughter's on Sunday.  Here are a few of the treasures I found there...

Vintage Collector's Plate by Wheelock China - Austria

Vintage? Divided Dinner Plates

I think these are vintage...

Vintage Taylor Smith Taylor Boutonniere Dinner Plate

I also visited a thrift store that I do not frequent often, due to it's distance from home, and found these...
Vintage Bark Cloth Fabrick, 3+ Yards

Vintage Embroidered & Appliqued Tablecloth & Napkins

Last, but not least, a vintage Bates twin bedspread.   Beautiful colors, but there are quite a few pulls over the entire spread and a number of very small spots...

But, look at the back side of it.... just a lovely as the top...

So, what do I do with a beautiful spread with tiny pulls and spots?  Any ideas?
