My Red-headed Ancestor and Her Descendants...

I was supposed to meet this sweet little girl on my recent trip to Missouri, but travel times changed and I will have to wait awhile longer.   She is my grand niece, Della.  The photo is from a phone, so pardon the blurriness, but isn't she a cutie?

In the picture my mother, Della's great-grandmother, is holding her mother's, Della's great-great grandmother's, red braided bun.  The braid was cut back in the 1930's, I believe, the one time my grandmother cut her hair significantly. The colors match almost exactly.

My red-headed Momma

My grandmother, her two sisters and one brother all had red hair. Out of my grandmother's 10 children I believe only four or five had actual red hair.  Out of 21 grandchildren only one had red hair.  Have not kept up with many of my cousins to know if they have offspring with red hair or not, but of the ones I do know, none have red hair.  But, surprise, the red is back -  the red lives on! :)
