For years I have found these hand knitted dishcloths at thrift shops, rummage and craft sales. They are the best dish cloths I have ever used. So, I finally searched on YouTube to find out how to knit my own. It is really quite easy, so I am sharing the link here...

This pattern is referred to as Grandmother's Favorite.
I used number 7 circular knitting needles. (I started with straight needles and they kept getting in the way) I happened to find a bag of new 100% cotton yarn skeins at a thrift store for $2.99 and have been knitting my heart out. UPDATE: Knitted one of these with #13 circular needles and it makes a larger, looser woven cloth, which I prefer.
The cloth pictured here was found at this site... http://easyknittingforbeginners.blogspot.com/2011/06/free-easy-knit-dishcloth-pattern.html which gives written instructions on how to knit it. However, I do better watching someone actually knitting, so preferred the video. If you have never tried these knitted cloths, I recommend them highly.
Because this is a thrifty idea... I'll be joining Selena's Thrift Share Monday here... http://apronthriftgirl.typepad.com/apron_thrift_girl/2012/04/thrift-share-monday-april-16.html .

I love these cloths. I got some from my grandmother, but I have worn them out. I will have to try my hand at making these myself!
