Vintage Cookie Jars...Collecting and Resaling

Found this sweet vintage cookie jar at a thrift store last week.  Think it may be from the 50's but not sure of date or maker.  Anyone familiar with this piece?
Unfortunately, the lid has been broken and repaired, but I still like it.  Glad previous owners repaired it and did not just throw it away.
It was made in the USA and has the number 740 engraved on the bottom.

I will probably keep this piece since it is damaged.  However, vintage cookie jars sell well via Ebay.  Try a search on Ebay for Vintage Cookie Jar and choose the completed listings - next choose Price & Shipping: Highest to Lowest and see what I mean.  May you find some big sellers our there... or some you would love to keep for yourself! :)

  1. Very cute cookie jar. And I agree that it's nice it was saved as it's still very useful and charming. Thanks for visiting Cottage and Creek and have a lovely week.

  2. Cute -- I am sure I have seen this one in antique stores but sold as a planter, without the lid!

  3. Oh wow! This looks similar to a school bus cookie jar that I grew up with (sadly it broke). Seeing as i'm 43 and our cookie jar was at least 10 years, if not more, older than me so the 50's are a safe bet.
