I shared a link to a recipe for thrifty homemade laundry detergent a couple of months ago - which, by the way, has made my dingy white towels brighten up a bit.
Today I made my own fabric softener from a recipe I found online at this frugal blog

I used the third option which includes hair conditioner. It works quite nicely and is a cinch to make. Next time I may try the option that uses white vinegar, baking soda, hot water and essential oil for fragrance.
