A New Booth and A Great Thrifting Site...

I decided this week to re-open a booth at Gotta Have It Resale in the Orlando area.  The owner deals mostly with furniture and home decor items, but sellers can put pretty much anything they want in their booths. The shop is open 10-7 everyday but Sunday which has 12-5 hours. Did this last year from October through the end of May and loved it.  Space is rented plus proprietor receives 11% of any sales.  Renters just have to keep their booths stocked and tidy - no working at the store and she prefers you not come in on the weekends since it is so busy.  Love it.  I get to yard sale and thrift shop, buy things I might not normally get to and spend weekends with my family.   My sister does a similar thing in MO, however her shop requires that 80% of content be antique or vintage.

My great thrift find on Friday was a dining room set to go in my booth.  Don't have a picture of it yet, but will try to get some of it in the booth when it is set up and then post them here.  I'll be sharing this post over at Selena's Thrift Share Mondays here http://apronthriftgirl.typepad.com/apron_thrift_girl .

Found a great site for finding thrift stores in your area.  Check it out: http://www.thethriftshopper.com/index.htm
Hope it works for you.  Have a great weekend! Leah :)

Yard Sale With Hazel...

Hazel and I had a yard sale Thursday & Friday.  She continued on today, but I was unable to do so.  The sale was great on Thursday, so much traffic.  Friday was a little sparse, but still sold some bigger items that I was happy to get out of my garage.  There was a picture of Hazel and I, but I cannot post it.  It is just a little too much of a close-up for me and I cannot find it on my computer after downloading it anyway.

At right is a beautiful Florida sunset sky from our roof.  One of my kiddos took this shot several years ago.  The colors are so gorgeous.

Hope you had a successful thrifting week and that you and yours are very well.  Blessings, Leah :)

Having a Yard Sale Thurs & Fri...

Hazel and I had a yard sale today and will continue tomorrow.  I have to say I was beat after closing up at 2pm, but after a little cat nap was ready to do my motherly duties.  It will be up and out the door early again tomorrow though.  Hmmm... maybe we will eat out tomorrow night or order pizza. :)

In Florida we can have yard sales pretty much all year long.  Although summer is a killer here, October and November are very big sale months and the weather is lovely.

The blue dragonfly does not go with the theme of this post, but I thought he was lovely - so small and yet so perfectly and beautifully designed.

Hope you have a wonderful Friday and weekend!  Happy Thrifting!             Leah :)

Pyrex in Pretty Pink

Found a lovely piece of pink pyrex at a thrift store yesterday.  A divided oval, pink dish with a clear glass lid.  Unfortunately, at checkout I noticed a chip in the lid rim near one handle.  Hmmm... It was $2.50 and, of course, the gal behind the counter commented that they sale for "much" more than that without the lid in antique stores.  I went ahead and bought it.

Upon arriving home and checking Ebay I find there are 101 (exaggerating a tad) of the same dish already listed and the finished auctions have either not sold or sold for $4 to $8.  I thought I had such a great potential reselling piece.  I'm learning, though it seems very slowly at times.

Guess I will have to keep her. Now to find room in the cupboards.  Have a blessed day!  Leah :)

Vintage Aprons and More ...

Hazel and I went yard saling yesterday, which I probably shouldn't have done after having outpatient surgery the day before, but then we have this thrifting addiction.  Only lasted two hours, but made some good finds.  There was a neighborhood sale and we spent most of our time there.  An older lady was having an estate sale of her aunt's items.  This aunt had done catering back in the 40s and 50s and had many handmade aprons.  They are lovely.  Here are some pics ...

I love this green one with the embroidery and cross stitch.

There are two gingham, pleated aprons with cross
stitch designs, purple and red ...

... There were also a couple of Christmas aprons.

I did not get pics of all of them individually before my camera battery died.  Maybe later.  I don't wear aprons much, so these beauties will probably go on Ebay for someone else to enjoy.

Got real excited when I found this McCoy pottery
Scotty dog vase.  When I returned home found it
had a chip I hadn't noticed at the sale.  Still at only
$1 I won't feel bad about keeping it for me.

Also found these sweet German china cups and cute
black kettle salt and pepper shakers.  Cups only say
"Made in Germany" in gold on the bottom. Anyone
 know anything about these items?

And check out these cute little guys ....

Vintage Santa Advent Calendar, made in Denmark, sorry he is horizontal.  I rotated him, but it did not work. Found three of these at a tiny thrift store near my son's school.

...And this sweet little Scotty Dog Mini Clock

I'll be sharing these on the Thriftshare Monday party over at Selena's blog ...

Hope you had fun thrifting this weekend and found some wonderful treasures!

Blessings, Leah :)

Fun Flips ...

I've been taking tips from the reselling pros ... names mentioned in previous posts ... and have had some successes. Recently, I found three crewel embroidery kits, probably from the 80s, unopened.  Funny thing is that I had purchased one of these in 1983 and stitched it for my sister-in-law when she was expecting my nephew.  Surprisingly, I sold this kit on Ebay for $31.00.  I paid $2.00 for it at a thrift store. Yay! It's the one with the mother rocking her baby.

Also, I have found several printer cartridges, new and in original foil packaging, for 50 cents to $1 and have sold on Ebay for around $9 each.  Again, I so appreciate the experienced resellers graciously sharing their wisdom with the novice crowd.  May you be blessed!

The other posted picture is a fall favorite of mine.  Hope you enjoy it!

Be sure to check out Thrift Share Monday over at Selena's blog: http://apronthriftgirl.typepad.com/apron_thrift_girl/ .

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Flips of Recent ...

Here is a photo of a recent flip.  Found new, in box, mini Samantha American Girl doll with mini book for 50 cents at a yard sale.  It was in the original shrink wrap, which was cloudy and dirty.  After removing the wrap I found that the doll and book were in beautiful condition and with no musty smell.  The box was bent and a little worse for the wear, but took my photos, posted on Ebay with a Buy It Now option and it sold right away for $12.99.  Hind sight says I probably could have gotten more, but still and okay profit.

I am definitely still in learning mode for reselling.  Finding that I need to go for the bigger items.  I have been buying a lot of little things that make a little profit, but it is too much work for the amount of profit.

I so appreciate the wisdom gleaned from sage resellers like Selena at: http://apronthriftgirl.typepad.com/apron_thrift_girl/,  Angela at: http://angemalbountyhuntress.blogspot.com/, Rebecca at: http://latenightcoffee.wordpress.com/ , Van at: http://www.thriftcore.com/ and Linda at: http://thriftaway.wordpress.com/.  I know there are more and I can't think of everyone right now.  It is great that you are secure enough to share your know-how with we who are less learned in the craft.  I mean, really, there's enough junk out there for everyone, right?  Thanks for sharing ladies ... your successes, your failures, and your secrets. Leah :o)

Fun FInds of the Week ...

Found a new thrift store this week ... yeah!  Found these three cute Mexican pottery owls there...

Check out the yard sale party Serena hosts at
http://apronthriftgirl.typepad.com/apron_thrift_girl/

Also found three crewel embroidery kits, new in package, but vintage.  Put them on Ebay, but saw that most others had a starting bid of .99, which is more than I paid for these, and only a few had sold.  I started mine out at 3.99 or higher. The "Babies Don't Keep" one already has one bid.

Check out this great set of curtain panels...

Can't tell if they are actually vintage or just a vintage print.  They are in like new condition on a homespun - muslin type fabric.  Pictures don't quite do the colors justice.  Wish I had somewhere to put them.  They are headed to Ebay also.

Found much more yesterday out saling with Hazel.  Will post more later.  Hope your weekend is great!  Leah :)
